OUR HISTORY

Picture
In early 1999 three local vintage and classic vehicle enthusiasts got together with the idea of forming a new classic car club in the Weymouth area and the first meeting was arranged to take place on the 4th of May 1999 at the Victoria Inn Chickerell near Weymouth.

39 local enthusiasts attended that meeting with a static display of 19 vintage and classic vehicles.

Transport of Yesteryear (Dorset) was formed on that evening and the club soon became known as the Toy club which is a little confusing.

It was decided that the club would run as simply as possible and withouit the usual red tape, the aim of the club was to promote classic friendship between members and to encourage members to participate in club events using and enjoying their classic and vintage vehicles.

Carle Grahame  stood as acting Chairman and an open weekend was held at School Hill Chickerell where some 30 vehicles turned up and took part in the club's first road run helping to raise £150 for Cancer Care Dorset, some 13 years latter Transport of Yesteryear is still raising money for local charities
